Dance/Movement Therapists traveled from across PA, NJ, and Delaware on Saturday, August 23rd to dance together in a Horton-style Modern class at Second Chance Dance in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia. The studio boasts high ceilings and natural light in a beautifully-renovated church space that was founded by Alyssa Bowser. Beginning and ending in a circle formation promoted a sense of inclusive connection, and some attendees admitted that they hadn’t attended a technique class in years. The powerful and unique experience of dancing with other DMT’s proved to be grounding, energizing, and heart-warming. A tasty spread of sweets and nutritious snacks only enhanced this nurturing community event. Alyssa shared the following observations afterwards: “The class was a truly incredible experience, and it was a joy and an honor to have such a passionate group of individuals share their energy… participation, commitment, and vulnerability.”
